Weather Alert: Aruba , Bonaire, and Curacao (July 23, 2020)

Event: Tropical Storm Gonzalo

The United States Consulate General in Curacao is monitoring Tropical Storm Gonzalo currently located 850 miles east of the southern Windward Islands moving west. Gonzalo is predicted to reach hurricane strength on Friday.  The current prediction of the storm’s forecast cone includes the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao.  Current forecasts estimate a 10-20% chance of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao experiencing tropical force storm winds on Saturday night and Sunday.

Tropical Storm Watches have not yet been issued for Aruba, Bonaire, or Curacao but U.S. citizens on those islands should monitor weather reports in case conditions change.

Actions to Take:
Monitor the local news for updates.
Avoid entering the sea as the storm may produce life threatening surf and rip current conditions.
Visit the Facebook pages for the Governments of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao follow the latest updates and receive directions from local officials.
