The U.S. Consulate is proud to share a custom English Language Curriculum designed for Curacao.

This c
urriculum is free and available to all schools.

Since 2020, a team of stakeholders and experts on Curacao worked with our English Language Programs Office to customize a curriculum tailored to the needs of Curacao, completely funded by the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Through Creative Commons, permission was granted by the New York City Department of Early Childhood Education to use and adapt their program. It forms the backbone of our curriculum and has been altered to honor Curacao’s history, culture, and diversity. This curriculum is research-based, is proven valid and reliable, and is designed to be engaging, interactive, and adaptable to the needs of the students and the community.

The curriculum includes the standards and benchmarks set by the Curacao Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports in compliance with the eight educational areas set forth in the National Decree Core Objectives of Foundation Education 2014, following article 11 of the National Ordinance Foundation Education for Curacao.

The foundation for our efforts at the U.S. Consulate General is to build a safe, secure, and prosperous hemisphere. We are passionately committed to promoting the economic prosperity and wellbeing of the people on the islands of the Dutch Caribbean. This program is an investment in the children of Curacao who will now be able to leverage English language skills to access educational and economic opportunities currently out of reach. By working collaboratively with our partners, we have ensured that Curacao’s children will be taught English in way that honors and takes pride in Curacao culture, history and the mother tongue of Papiamentu.

Please download the PDF files and have a look through the curriculum. We want this website to be a valuable resource for administrators and teachers across the island as we embark on this exciting new school.

For questions, to provide feedback, or for more information on starting your own English Immersion School (EIS), please don’t hesitate to contact us at CuracaoPAS@state.gov. We would love to hear from you!
